This dual purpose dip meter is not same as normally meters, as its name, it has two functions. It has two buttons that show the water level in addition to the well’s depth. Press the “Ⅰ” button to measure the water level, and switch to the “Ⅱ” button to measure the well depth

And all you have to do is submerge the probe in water, and the sensor will automatically urge you that the probe’s hole is filled with water, then read the value.
