What principle is used in this exhaust thermometer?

According to principle of gas thermal expansion, when heated, gas molecules gain energy, then move faster, gas will collide more frequently with container walls, leading the gas to expand and occupy a larger volume. So, when gas in tube is heated, gas will expand and the thermometer inner device will be driven, which in turn drive the pointer to rotate, then displaying the temperature value.
