What’s The Difference Between Radar Level Meter and Ultrasonic Water Level Meters, Both Of Which Are Non-contact Level Meters?

◆ Working Principle

• Ultrasonic Water Level Meters emit ultrasonic pulses and use the echo time after the sound waves are reflected from the liquid surface to calculate the distance. They rely on air as the propagation medium.
• High-frequency electromagnetic waves are emitted by radar level meters, which then use the signals reflected from the liquid surface to determine the liquid level. In a vacuum, electromagnetic waves travel at a constant speed.

◆Applicable Media And Environment

• Ultrasonic level meters are suitable for liquids,slurries, and granular solids, but not for vacuum, high pressure, or steam environments.
• Radar level transmitter aresuitable for liquids (including corrosive media), solid powders, high temperature and high pressure environments, and are not affected by foam, dust, and steam.

◆Cost

• Ultrasonic water level meters are cheaper and suitable for ordinary working conditions
• Radar level meters are more expensive and suitable for complex working conditions

When Using the Wepower Ultrasonic Water Level Meter, What Should You Keep In Mind?

Please be advised that when utilizing this sensor, the ambient temperature should not be higher than 80°C, nor should there be an excessive amount of steam present. We advise selecting a separated type ultrasonic water level meter with an anti-corrosion material probe if you need to measure corrosive media.

Particulate matter can also be measured using the sensor. Please be aware, nevertheless, that extremely volatile powders and media cannot be precisely measured. For safety reasons, we advise taking into account an explosion-proof level sensor while measuring oil-based media, such as soybean oil.
