Pressure measurement projects rarely fail because a buyer cannot find a transmitter. They fail because the instrument is selected from an incomplete specification. A pressure range may be listed without the reference pressure, while a corrosive or viscous medium is described only as “liquid.” These omissions may create rework during engineering, commissioning, and maintenance.
This practical exercise converts process conditions into a pressure‑transmitter specification for consistent understanding among engineers, integrators and suppliers.
Before comparing the models, specify what the transmitter needs to measure and how its output signal will be utilized. A pressure transmitter can support process monitoring, control loops, alarm triggering, tanklevel calculation, or differential pressure duties. Such applications do not always call for the same sensor type or connection hardware
Write down the following process facts:
This information prevents a common mistake: choosing a transmitter by nominal range alone. A 0–1 MPa device may appear suitable until a pressure spike or process condition exceeds what the diaphragm can tolerate.
The pressure reference should be explicit in the inquiry. Gauge pressure compares the process with local atmospheric pressure and is common for line, vessel, and utility monitoring. Absolute pressure uses a sealed vacuum reference, which is important when atmospheric changes would distort the process decision. Differential pressure measures the difference between two points and is used for filter monitoring, flow elements, and level measurement in closed vessels.
Wepower Electronic’s Pressure Measurement range includes transmitters for differential, gauge, and absolute pressure. A project specification should therefore name the reference directly instead of assuming that “pressure transmitter” is sufficient.
For a tank, state whether the requirement is pressure or level. A hydrostatic level calculation depends on liquid density and the elevation between the tapping point and the transmitter. A sealed tank may require differential pressure or a remote seal.
The selected range needs headroom for the maximum credible pressure, but excessive span can reduce signal resolution during normal operation. Provide the normal operating pressure point and design maximum value, then ask the supplier to confirm turndown, overpressure capacity, and calibration range.
TheWepower 3051GP Pressure Transmitter product page for the 3051GP pressure transmitter specifies a 0‑41 MPa measurement range, 0.1 % accuracy, 4‑20 mA/HART output, 9‑36 VDC power supply, and mounting option for a 2‑inch pipe bracket. These parameters are provided for reference only and shall not be treated as universal selection criteria. A low-pressure air skid, steam line, and high-pressure hydraulic circuit need different ranges and mechanical details.
For compact installations, the 2088 Pressure Transmitter is described as a small instrument for liquid or gas service. Its published range extends from -100 kPa to 100 MPa, with 0.25% or 0.5% accuracy options, 24 VDC supply, and 4–20 mA, HART, or Modbus outputs. The same page lists IP65 protection and applications including process systems, compressed-air systems, and edible liquid or oil-field service. The selection question is whether its accuracy, temperature behavior, enclosure, and communication fit the control architecture.
The operating temperature can shift the measurement, affect fill-fluid behavior, and damage elastomers or electronics. Give the supplier the process temperature at the diaphragm and note steam, hot condensate, thermal cycling, flushing, or external ambient heat.
For viscous, crystallizing, solids‑laden, highly corrosive or toxic process media, conventional direct impulse lines risk blockage, leakage and process‑side contamination. Wepower Electronic’s Diaphragm Seal Level Transmitter is engineered for such demanding operating conditions, as well as hygienic applications within the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. The product documentation lists diaphragm material alternatives including 316L, Hastelloy, Monel and tantalum; flange connections complying with ANSI, DIN, JIS and Tri‑Clamp standards; an operating temperature range of ‑40 °C to +250 °C; 4‑20 mA output with HART protocol; together with IP67 ingress protection rating.
Those options show what a good inquiry should contain: wetted materials, flange standard and rating, seal or extension length, fill fluid, cleaning method, and process-connection temperature. “Stainless steel” alone is not a complete compatibility specification.
Many automation projects use a 4–20 mA current loop. HART adds digital configuration and diagnostics on the same loop, while Modbus may suit a compact serial-network installation.
Specify the receiving system, loop voltage, cable entry, hazardous-area requirements, display preference, and whether local zero adjustment is required. Also state the desired damping and response behavior. A fast signal may be needed for control, while a pulsating pump line may need damping to keep the displayed value usable.
An effective pressure measurement RFQ should let the supplier return a complete, reviewable data sheet. Include:
Ask for the completed model code, datasheet, wiring diagram, calibration record, and applicable product declarations before release. Confirm whether a standard product or OEM configuration is more appropriate.
The instrument is only one part of the measurement result. Configuration, material selection, application review, and after-sale support influence field performance. WePower Electronic has produced and supported automatic field instruments since 2003, offers customized OEM service, and provides technical and after-sale assistance.
For an international project, use the inquiry to test the supplier’s engineering response. Send the actual process data and ask which assumptions remain open. A supplier that identifies missing information before quotation is more useful than one that simply recommends the most familiar model.
Choose a pressure transmitter based on pressure type, measuring range, process medium, temperature, process connection, accuracy, output signal, and installation environment.
Gauge pressure takes atmospheric pressure as the baseline, absolute pressure is based on a perfect vacuum, while differential pressure determines the pressure gap between two measurement locations.
The selected range should cover normal operating pressure and maximum credible pressure while maintaining suitable accuracy and resolution for the control process.
Pressure measurement selection becomes manageable when the process, reference, range, medium, temperature, connection, and signal are specified together. The WE3051 family can suit projects where accuracy and HART communication matter. The WE2088 family may suit a compact installation with several output choices. A diaphragm-seal transmitter is a logical starting point when the process connection must be isolated from a difficult or hygienic medium.
The final model still depends on the complete data sheet and project conditions. Contact Wepower Electronic with your detailed requirements to receive project-specific selection recommendations, model codes, and price quotations.
